Medicare-Vs-Medicaid

Here are some examples of those variations:

Medicare

  • A federal health insurance program is called Medicare.
  • Medicare offers health coverage for anyone 65 years of age and beyond.
  • Medicare can also cover people with disabilities who are younger than 65.
  • Medicare does not use your income to determine eligibility.

Medicaid

  • Medicaid is a federal and state health insurance scheme.
  • Medicaid offers low-income people of any age access to health care.
  • People may qualify, including single people, families with kids, expectant mothers, the elderly, and people with impairments.
  • Medicaid eligibility is determined by your state’s regulations and your income.

If you meet the requirements, you can have Medicare and Medicaid at the same time. Dual eligibility is the term used for this. Together, the two initiatives will make sure you can afford the coverage you require.
