2023 Medicare Cost

Medicare Part A Premium

If you’ve contributed Medicare taxes for a minimum of ten years (equivalent to 40 quarters), you’ll be eligible for premium-free Part A coverage. However, if your Medicare tax contributions fall below 30 quarters, your monthly premium for Part A will amount to $506. For individuals who have paid Medicare taxes for 30 to 39 quarters, the monthly premium for Part A will be $278.

Medicare Part A Deductible and Coinsurance

Here are the payment details for Medicare Part A coverage:

  • $1,600 deductible for each benefit period
  • $0 coinsurance for days 1-60 during each benefit period
  • $400 daily coinsurance for days 61-90
  • $800 daily coinsurance for days 91 and beyond (lifetime reserve days)
  • All costs incurred beyond lifetime reserve days
Medicare Part B Premium

The standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B is $164.90. However, this premium may be subject to increase depending on your income.

Medicare Part B Deductible and Coinsurance

The yearly deductible for Medicare Part B is $226. Once you’ve met this deductible, you’ll be responsible for paying 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for the doctor services you receive.
